The Power In You

But you belong to God, my dear children. You have already won a victory over those people, because the Spirit who lives in you is greater than the spirit who lives in the world. 1 John 4:4

When you ask God to come into your life and be your Savior, you get two gifts, essentially:
Salvation and the Holy Spirit.
The Holy Spirit is the most ignored person in the Trinity. My Pastor is doing a message series about Him right now and I am loving it!
I am also doing a Bible study with my best friend on the Holy Spirit and His gifts.
For some reason, when most of us have that initial encounter with God, we really know He's there, and we feel awesome. Then, for some reason, we think He leaves.
He never leaves.
Our bodies become His temple. When Jesus died on the cross, the curtain in the Holy of Holies was torn, which was saying, "Now you have full access to God individually."
Before, only the High Priest could communicate with God and ask for your forgiveness.
Now, God wants a personal one on one relationship with you.
My Bible study book says, "Instead of believing what the Bible says, too many believers believe only what they feel."
You can't live your life based simply on how you feel. We are emotional beings. And those emotions can get the best of us at times.
What we need to realize and learn is that with the Holy Spirit in us, we can do ALL things.
My book also says, "Some Christians constantly talk about the lack of power, and their lack of ability. But if they realized that God is IN them, they would know that there is nothing impossible to them."
God is with us AND in us at all times.
Galatians 5 starting in verse 13, it's talking about life in the Spirit. But the most famous part is verses 22-25 which says, "But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against these things!
24 Those who belong to Christ Jesus have nailed the passions and desires of their sinful nature to his cross and crucified them there. 25 Since we are living by the Spirit, let us follow the Spirit’s leading in every part of our lives. 26 Let us not become conceited, or provoke one another, or be jealous of one another."
Now, if those are the fruit of the Spirit, and the Holy Spirit lives in us, WHY don't we tap into those things when we need them?
Life is hard. We talk about that all the time, right?
But it can be easier when you allow the Spirit to walk with you and help you.
If you are dealing with a rough situation at work, say, "Holy Spirit, I need some patience right now."
If you are dealing with a mean person, and you don't want to be mean back because two wrongs don't make a right, say, "Holy Spirit, help me be kind to this person. Because I really don't want to right now."
He is there and He has the power you need to deal with life. We don't live this way for some reason.
I think some people are afraid of the Holy Spirit, simply because they've never been taught about Him. Or because people have made the mistake of letting the Bible be the third thing in the Trinity instead of Him.
The Bible is GREAT, and we do need to believe what it says, please don't misunderstand that. But the Trinity is God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit.
Three in One.
If you just aren't sure about all of this, search the Scriptures on the Holy Spirit. Learn more about Him, get to know Him, talk to Him, and see what happens.
I think your life will change.
God bless you today and always!
