Dodging Life's Curve Balls

"Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ is born of God, and everyone who loves the Father loves His child as well. This is how we know that we love the children of God: by loving God and carrying out His commands. In fact, this is love for God: to keep His commands. And His commands are not burdensome, for everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith. Who is it that overcomes the world? Only the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God." 1 John 5:1-5

Life can throw us some curve balls, can't it? I mean, look at my hometown, two damaging storms 20 days apart. We are still recovering from it.
Sometimes bad things happen to good people. It might be an attack from our enemy, it might be just life in general, either way, bad things come our way.
But we are overcomers through Christ. God doesn't add burdens to us. He takes them away.
In my Oswald Chambers devotional this morning, it said this:
"The remarkable thing about spiritual initiative is that the life and power come after we "get up and get going". God does not give us overcoming life - He gives us life as we overcome. If we will take the initiative to overcome, we will find that we have the inspiration of God, because He immediately gives us the power of life."
So in layman's terms, "Get up and move!"
I think what happens is, we blame God for the bad, and then we get stuck in a rut. We think that He caused the hard time, therefore, we don't turn to Him to get through it.
That's just simply not true. God loves us. He does not want to hurt us.
Is He all knowing? Yes.
Is He all powerful? Yes.
Could He have prevented said bad thing in our life? Yes.
But sometimes He allows us to go through things to strengthen us or grow our Spiritual gifts.
It's NEVER to harm us. What loving Father would do that?
"Here, let me break your heart, send a tornado to ruin your house, kill someone you love, so you will come to Me."
That's ABSURD!!!
God has unfailing love for us. He's slow to anger. He's merciful and gracious. He's kind and tender hearted.
He wants to HELP us overcome our issues!
Will you step outside of your circumstance for a moment and see what is going on good at the moment?
Have you seen that Mr. Rogers clip, where he talks about seeing something horrible on the news and his mom told him to look for the helpers.
I recommend you do that too. Look for the helpers. Look for the people God has placed in your life to help you live it. There has to be at least one person.
You have the power to overcome anything that is thrown your way! That curve ball WILL not hit you in the head, because you are going to dodge it!
I pray that someone receives this today. Walk it out my friend! You've got this!
God bless you today and always.
