A Daddy's Love

A Daddy's love is like no other.

This past weekend, my cousin Jimmy and his family where visiting from South Carolina. Jimmy is younger than me by 7 years. Our moms were sisters. (His mom passed away when he was 17.) He grew up in somewhat of a rough situation. He bounced around a good bit and had some hard times. Then his mom dying when he was teenager was tough. By that time, thankfully, he was living for God. He even spoke at her funeral and told people the Gospel and said we needed to give our life to God so we could see her again in heaven.

Jimmy and Danielle had Maximus Alexander two years ago. I enjoy watching videos of him and seeing his pictures. Being around him this weekend was so fun. He's very smart. He uses sign language to communicate sometimes and is learning lots of words. I especially enjoy how he pushes his tongue out of the side of his mouth when he says, "Play". It's the cutest thing.

What really moved me the most was how much Max loves his daddy. His mom, Danielle, even posted a video of him a few weeks ago...she was getting him to repeat, "I love.." and she was going to say, "Mommy", but he said, "Daddy" over and over again.

Watching Jimmy and Max together was heart warming. Jimmy is good with him. He loves him very much, it's easy to tell. Danielle is a stay at home mom and is expecting baby boy number 2! She is doing a great job raising Max and I know baby Leo will be loved and raised awesome as well.

Some of us did not grow up with a Jimmy for our dad. Maybe he wasn't around. Maybe he was there physically, but not emotionally. Whatever the case, we all weren't blessed to have an awesome childhood and father growing up.

That's where God comes in.

He is our Heavenly Father. He loves us unconditionally.
He is compassionate, slow to anger and abounding in love. (Psalm 103: 8)

God will be the daddy you never had if you let Him.

Even if you had an awesome dad and a good childhood, He still wants to be a part of your life. God loves us like no earthly father ever could.

Will you give him a chance today? Let God move into your heart and life. You will be glad you did.
