HOPE redefined!

Mrs. Jane spoke at Launch Out and she had us all laughing. I was very interested in her talk when she mentioned hope. defines hope as "the feeling that was is wanted can be had or that events will turn out for the best."

Jane said "Hope perseveres in spite of obstacles. The belief that the future will be better."

This next statement really hit me:
"Don't confuse hope with optimism. Hope requires action."

I think sometimes we lose hope because we fail to plan. That's why my talk with Catherine on Friday meant so much to me. I haven't had a plan. Therefore, my hope was squashed.

Jane said to set SMART goals.

Relevant/ Realistic
Time Sensitive

This one is GREAT! Hope motivates people.

Isn't that true? It really does.Small goals helps you have hope and not feel so overwhelmed. It motivates you to move forward because you feel like you can actually accomplish something.

What are you facing?

Do you need hope? Do you need help setting goals? I"m not Catherine, but I will listen and see how I can help if you need me to.

You have HOPE!

Please take a few minutes and watch Jane's talk at Launch Out. You will be glad you did!

  1. Thank you, Jill. I'm fascinated by Shane Lopez's research on hope. His book, Making Hope Happen, is a great resource.
