Who's Path Are You On?

There are many people in this world, Christian and non Christian who just live through each day. They might have goals and dreams, but they aren't really doing anything about them. Not to mention, that they could be THEIR goals and dreams.

You see, I'm a firm believer that God has a plan and purpose for each human being born. Some are huge purposes, like Billy Graham, others are small, like this little south Georgia woman writing on a blog most days.

Even as a Christian, we can take our own path.

I know I have.

God gave us free will.

We CAN chose our own path. From what I have experienced, He will bless part of that path. He doesn't stop loving us because we chose our own way. I think it just hinders Him and what He was going to do with us.

Kinda like a road block.

Two years ago, when my oldest son turned 16, I took him and some of his friends to Jacksonville, FL for a concert. After we left the concert, I was following the GPS back to our hotel room. It kept trying to take me down a road with a bridge that was closed.

I had never been to Jacksonville before. I did not know where to go or what to do. At the time, I didn't even know anyone who lived there to call a friend.

I drove on the road and found a police officer to ask for help. I got in trouble because I had driven past the block, but I didn't know what else to do.

I am reading through Proverbs again, and Chapter 3 has some awesome words of wisdom.

One that jumped out at me today was Proverbs 3:5 & 6, "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight."

Ok, what this is NOT saying is:

1. "Give your life to God and everything will be perfect."

2. "Your path will always be easy."

What this IS saying is:

1. "Trust in the Lord with all of your heart."

2. "Let Him be your guide, stop trying to figure it all out."

3. "Acknowledge Him in your every day life."

4. "He will see you through each day."

The roads we walk can be our own choice, or God's choice for us. He will love you and in some ways, bless you through your choices. But, dude, think of all the blessings we miss out on doing it our way.

Who's path are you on? Are you doing things God's way or your's?

  1. Sometimes it very difficult to figure out who's path you are on. There are times when you think you are on God's path, but it's difficult to be sure.
