How to Win at Life

Life is not all fun and games. There will always be times of hurt, pain, and sadness.

Often times, these are self induced. Other times, it is because of what someone else did to us.

Nevertheless, we must remember that we can not win every single time.

Even with some wins, negative things happened to get you to that win.

If you are a person who does not live for the Lord, as fully as possible, and you are using people to get what you want, then you are not winning! (Even if you think you are.)

You also are going to cause others pain and suffering, which in turn will mean they aren't winning either.

You can jump around from relationship to relationship. You can drink. You can use drugs if you want. You can also try to "win" at life by filling your heart with a number of other things.....(food, sex, shopping)

However, the best way to being close to winning is to give your life fully to God and let Him take control.

Stop lying.

Stop using people.

Stop trying to fill your heart with the things that will just make you want more.

When Jesus talked to the woman at the well.. it was around noon. (John 4) She was going to well in the dessert at noon because no one else would be there.

She was the talk of the neighborhood.

Jesus knew her past. She had been married several times and the man she was currently living with was not her husband. Jesus told her that He was the living water and with Him, she would never thirst again. The same is true for us. If we allow Jesus into our lives, He will help us "win", because He will provide for us.

Even with her past, He did not shame her. If He had of shamed her, she would never have gone to the towns folk and told them, "Come see this man who told me everything I ever did." (John 4:39)

I am not writing to judge or shame either.

I am writing in hopes to encourage people who aren't living for God to try it.

Life as a Christ follower doesn't mean you won't have trouble. You will. We have an enemy.

But life as a Christ follower means that you have a second chance, a Do Over, if you will. Jon Acuff has written a great book about starting over check it out... Jon Acuff's book, DO OVER

I pray that you will see God for who He is. Don't just pull Him out when it's easy for you. Don't use His name or thank Him to make yourself sound good. Fully commit to Him. Let Him heal you. He loves you very much.
