God's Timing

I really feel like today's topic is going to reach some people. I think some of you guys really need it. It's something I needed to learn, hear, and write about.

God is not us.

SHOCKER, right? LOL

See, we are just human beings. Because we are limited in time and space, it's very hard to believe that God is any different. It's also very hard to believe that He wants a close relationship with us.

But He does.

Here are a few ways to prove how God is different:

1. He doesn't think like we do. Isaiah 55:8, "For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways," declares the Lord.

2. He doesn't look at people like we do.  1 Samuel 16: 7, "But the LORD said to Samuel, "Do not consider his appearance or his height , for I have rejected him. The LORD does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart." (This wasn't God being mean. He merely was not choosing this dude for King based on how he looked.

3. God wants us to trust Him enough to wait on Him and His plans to come about. Remember, Jeremiah 29:11 tells us He has a plan for us. Well, sometimes that plan means we have to wait.
Psalm 27:14, "Wait for the Lord; be strong and let your heart take courage and wait for the Lord."

Ecclesiastes 3:1, "For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven."

Proverbs 3: 5 &6, "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, lean not on your own understanding, in your ways acknowledge Him and He will keep your paths straight."

Ecclesiastes 3:11, "He has made everything beautiful in its time. Also, He has put eternity into every man's heart, yet so that He can not find out what God has done from the beginning to the end."

When things don't go our way, we tend to try to make it happen. That's the last thing we need to do. I am speaking from my heart here. I have done it!

God has a timing that is unlike our's. We do not know the future and plans He has, but He does. Trust Him. Know that He has your best interests at heart. He loves us so much!

There is that one Scripture, were Jesus is talking about parents and how they give the best to their children, God is the same way. Matthew 7:11 says, "If you then, though you were evil,  know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask Him." This tells me that God does give good gifts... but they come in His timing.

If you are praying about something and haven't heard an answer, that doesn't mean NO. It might just mean "NOT RIGHT NOW". Don't give up! If you have a peace about something, or He has promised something to you... stick with it. He keeps His promises too.

I'm not sure who is struggling with this that needs to read it. I can think of a few people. I hope this helps you some. If you need me to pray for you, I will! Just ask!

  1. Thank you so much for posting this! I needed it specifically this week and will pass it on to at least one other person who also will be encouraged. Thank you for listening to God and posting from His Word as a nudge to those of us who needed to hear it! :)

  2. I am one of the people that needed to see this too, Linked from 30 Days of Hustle then spotted this. Someone had already shared with me Psalm 1 that someone who walks closely with God is like a tree planted by rivers of water that 'brings forth fruit in season' and I love the verse you quote that 'He has made everything beautiful in its time.' Thank you for the reminder and encouragement to wait on God's timing.
