The Places Jesus Bled, Part 3

In the book of Genesis, chapter 3, after Adam and Eve sinned, God explains their new way of life. Adam worked the land before, but it was easy and everything was peachy. Now God said, in verse 18, "It will produce thistles and thorns for you, and you will eat the plants of the field."

Thistles and thorns are bad. They make work hard, and they hurt when struck by them. In Hebrew thinking, they mean poverty and that your work is stressful.

Jesus was given a crown of thistles and thorns by the Roman soldiers. They mocked Him with it calling Him, "The King of the Jews".

It looked a lot like this I bet: 

If you think poverty is a part of Christianity, you are wrong. God made a way for us to live in prosperity. We are released from the spirit and mindset of poverty. Work is NOT a curse. This is why in Colossians Paul said in chapter 3: 23-24, "Whatever you do, work at it with all of your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, since you know you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving."

Poverty robs people of hope. Proverbs 13:12 says hope deferred makes the heart sick. Poverty causes fear, and makes people think they will never have enough. Therefore, they lose hope.

Living in prosperity means never having to live in fear, because God promises to provide for all of your needs.

Philippians 4: 19 says, "And my God will meet all of your needs according to the riches of His glory in Christ Jesus." It does not say, "Some of your needs." It says, "ALL of your needs."

Walk in generosity. Do for others when you can and with what you can. That is the opposite of a poverty mind set.

Jesus had a crown of thorns and thistles pushed into His head so that the blood from them would release us from a poverty mindset. Take a minute today and look up 2 Corinthians 9: 8-15. Know that you are loved and God is your provider!
