1 second is so important!

Over the last few months, I have been watching more college football. I enjoy watching football in general, but I have just always watched the NFL. College is a little different. I like the Georgia Bulldogs, but the Auburn Tigers have become my team of choice.

A month or so ago they played against their big rival, Alabama. With one second left in the game, Alabama went to kick a long field goal... here is what happened:

No one knew just how important that one second left in the game would be.

As a matter of fact, if you watch any football at all, you know that even something as small as 5 minutes left in a game doesn't mean it's about to be over. ANYTHING can happen in that 5 minutes.

This reminds me once again how important our time is.

We are given 24 hours every day. Just like these football games have four 15 minute quarters. What we do with our time, or what these teams do with their time is what really matters.

It only takes one second to wound and hurt someone. Especially with words. You know that little saying, "Sticks and stones may break my bones but words will never hurt me."? WHAT A LIE that is!

Words do hurt. Words wound people's souls and hearts.

You've got one second to think before you speak. Why not use it to lift up and not tear down? Use it to help instead of hurt.

Proverbs 12: 18 says, "Thoughtless words cut like a sword.
But the tongue of wise people brings healing."

Use your time and tongue for healing today! You'll be glad you did.
