Kindness

"Be the living expression of God's kindness: kindness in your face, kindness in your eyes, kindness in your smile, kindness in your warm greeting."
~ Mother Teresa

I read this today and it really hit home. We need to treat people kindly every day. No matter what. You never know what someone is going through. There could be a million problems for someone at home, but they are trying their best to work and not think about things. Then, you come in and treat them mean, so they break. Maybe you were kind and got snapped at. Do not be mean back.

Have you heard that old saying, "Kill them with kindness?" It reminds me of what Jesus said in Matthew 5: 38-40, "38 “You have heard that it was said, ‘Eye for eye, and tooth for tooth.’ 39 But I tell you, do not resist an evil person. If anyone slaps you on the right cheek, turn to them the other cheek also. 40 And if anyone wants to sue you and take your shirt, hand over your coat as well."

My son and one of his best friends were watching a documentary on bullying the other day. It breaks my heart how these children treat each other. There have been many suicides that can be blamed on bullying. Why would you enjoy making someone miserable? That is not why God put us on this earth.

Jesus also said this in Luke 6:30 & 31 "30 Give to everyone who asks you, and if anyone takes what belongs to you, do not demand it back. 31 Do to others as you would have them do to you."

Show people kindness. Let it ooze out of you today. If you feel the urge to get upset, stop and think for a minute, "Will this hurt someone or help them?"
