Honoring Our Heroes

Today in America is a national holiday.
We are honoring the men and women who have served in our armed forces.

America has always been a unique country. We were founded because people wanted freedom and to change the way government ruled in their native countries. Our service men and women have gone to battle in order to help America keep the freedom it was founded on.

There are many battles in the Bible. One that stands out the most, to me, is that of Gideon though. It was so weird. You know that saying, "God works in mysterious ways"? I think that's true.

In the book of Judges in the Old Testament, Chapter 6 talks about Gideon. He was a farmer that God wanted to use to lead His people into battle to reclaim their land. When an angel came to speak to Gideon, he didn't believe it was real or true. So he asked for proof. God showed him the proof.

When it came time to battle. Gideon had to trust God. God made his army very very small. They were going up against a ton of the enemy soldiers. Not only were they out numbered, but then God told him not to use normal war weapons. Judges 7:16 says, " 16 Dividing the three hundred men into three companies, he placed trumpets and empty jars in the hands of all of them, with torches inside."

I urge you to read the entire story if you never have. It is very interesting.

Our American armed forces are volunteer based. These men and women have to be gifted from God to want to put their lives on the line to keep the rest of us safe and free. I am very thankful for what they've done. All of the ones from the past, in the present, and our future soldiers. Thank you from one gracious writer, who because of you, I have the freedom to write this blog. God bless you every one!
