STOP Comparing Yourself to Other People!

Almost all of my life I have played this comparison game. I believe it is the stupidest thing any one could do!

Here is the deal: There is only ONE you. God made you the way you are for a reason.

You have your parents DNA for a reason. You look like He wanted you to look. You have gifts, talents, and abilities that He wanted you to have.

Now, let me say this. We have free will.

You do not have to be a Christian. You do not have to live for God. On the flip side of that, you CAN be a Christian and still make your choices in life. Some of those choices could end up causing you pain. That's not God's fault, it's our fault. It upsets me when people blame God for stuff He didn't do. There will always be consequences when we do things in and of ourselves. That's just the truth of the matter.

Here is what we do... what I have done too.

We see someone else's life and we think, "Why is everything going good for them?"
"Why am I over here struggling and they are living it up?"
"Why do they have love from someone and I'm still single?"
"Why can't my children behave like that child?"
"Why do I have to work so hard to lose weight? All she's got to do is think about it."

When I lost my twins, and I saw babies while shopping, I compared. I wondered what those moms had done right and what I had done wrong. I wondered why I wasn't allowed to be a mom and they were.

GOOD GRIEF!

Do you see the pain we have caused ourselves?

Life is not perfect. It won't be until we get to Heaven. So, we need to accept things as they are. Can we improve? Absolutely! Can we make life better? You sure can!

BUT... comparing your life to someone else's is just hurting you. STOP IT!

The second paragraph in my Jesus Calling Devotional today says this:

"Do not compare yourself with others who seem to skip along their life-path with ease. Their journeys have been different from yours, and I have gifted them with abundant energy. I have gifted you with fragility, providing opportunities for your spirit to blossom in My Presence. Accept this gift as a sacred treasure; delicate, yet glowing with brilliant Light. Rather than struggling to disguise or deny your weakness, allow Me to bless you richly through it."

Yes, some people look like they just skip through life without a care in the world. However, that's possibly just what they want you to think. No one has a perfect life. We all have "stuff" we deal with, sometimes on a daily basis.

Lean into your Father who loves you. Let this be a reminder that He has a purpose and plan for you. I will leave you with a movie quote, and the only way you should compare yourself to others:

"You is kind. You is smart. You is important."

God made you, you. Be the best you possible!

I posted my daughter's picture on Facebook for her first day of 8th grade. I had a lot of comments on how she looks just like me. I did a side by side last night. I want to post it to show you that I believe that's the only way we should compare ourselves to others... she's my daughter and we do look alike. Otherwise, you are special, embrace it and stop comparing.
