London Has NOT Fallen

"Since you (LORD) are my Rock and my Fortress for the sake of your name lead and guide me." Psalm 31:3

I feel like I say this often, but dang it, it's the truth. Life is hard sometimes! Being a Christian does not give you a "get out of trouble FREE" card. That's just not how this world works.
Being a Christian, actually makes the target on your back bigger... but you know what else? It also means you have a Heavenly Father who is there to walk with you through all of the crap.
Back when the Bible was written, they didn't have world news. The only way to know what was going on in another town or country was word of mouth after someone else experienced it.
Now, we have satellites that beam news all over the world. What happened in London yesterday was awful.
I want to say this to you though... DO NOT LIVE IN FEAR!
GOD is our Rock, Fortress, Refuge, our very present help in time of need.
This is what I think happens.... we try to protect ourselves. And in doing so, we place guards around our hearts. But this is not how God wants us to live.
God wants us to fully rely on Him. He IS our Strong Tower, Rock, Redeemer, Fortress, and more!
David, who wrote most of the Psalms, was running for his life, and he realized that only God could protect him and keep him safe. Another verse in Psalm 37 says, "I will be glad and rejoice in your unfailing love, for you have seen my troubles, and you care about the anguish of my soul." (verse 7)
God really does care about your troubles. I realize that bad things happen, just like what happened in London yesterday. In the New Testament, we are told to "Cast all of our cares on Him, for He cares for you." God WANTS to be there for us.
Let me assure you of one thing.. God DID NOT cause that to happen. You might be wondering, "Where was He then?" He was right there, and He saw it all. It's not His will that anyone would die without knowing Him. It's not His will for people to be murdered.
The truth is, we live in a fallen, sinful world that has a horrible unseen ruler. God is in charge here, but He is not the one causing the bad stuff to happen.
We learn from the Bible that God is loving, kind, and slow to anger. The problem is, people don't know God, so they believe all the negative stuff they hear about Him.
People want someone to blame. God gets the blame a lot. I mean, even insurance companies call it "an act of God" if your house is messed up in a storm.
Once we can grasp the reality that God is good, He does not cause bad things to happen, and He is our protector, life will shift for us.
That's His desire. He wants you to see the truth about who He is. He wants you to know that He loves you so much and He would never do anything to you that would break your heart.
He's there, waiting to pick up the broken pieces of your heart and put them back together.
Stop trying to protect yourself. Stop believing the lies that God wants to hurt you or that He has hurt you in the past.

God bless you today and always!
