The Next Generation

I believe that we Christians, ages 30 and above have a high calling on our lives. We NEED to be leading and talking to younger people about God. We need to teach them His ways and lead by example so that they will do the same with the generation behind them.

Proverbs 22:6 ESV says, "Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it."

The NIV says, "Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it."

The Message says, "Point your kids in the right direction - when they are old they won't be lost."

I believe God is calling us to this. Even if you do not have children. It's not just about children either. We have a whole generation of teenagers and 20'somethings that are being lead astray by this fast paced internet world. They are constantly hearing and seeing things that we didn't. The world is getting worse every day. We have ISIS killing people and because of the internet, everything is seen immediately. We don't have to wait days for news reports.

There has become this terrible stigma in the United States and all whites are racist, all black people are criminals and all cops are bad. That's just simply not the truth. However, this is what this generation is hearing and believing.

In Christine Caine's devotional book, "Living Life Undaunted" today's reading said:

"Our young people must be taught how to live a daily life of mission - and we do that by living that life before them. If we are simply telling young people to win their friends to Christ, we are not giving them what they need to be successful. But if we are regularly sharing with them that we have been witnessing or intentionally building friendships with unsaved people, they will then be able to understand the significant nature of evangelism."

I fully agree with what she said here.

It's my prayer that we can live like God wants us to in order to reach the next generation for Him. The world isn't going to get any better.

God bless you today and always.
