Every Story Matters!

We have a place here in my town called The Anchorage. It used to be a base of some sort. Since 1953, this place has been a place of hope and healing for men.

Their mission statement says, "We provide Christ-centered treatment services to men with substance addictions through a residential program incorporating the 12-Step recovery program with emphasis on the redemptive and transformational power of Jesus Christ to restore men to wholeness."

A few weeks ago, I attended their "Anchorfest" event. It is their yearly fundraiser. Different singers sang, and a couple of men were interviewed about what the Anchorage has done for them.

Last night, I went to a church service, because they were there. One of my very best friends has been living at the Anchorage and has fully turned his life around. He was supposed to speak and give his testimony, so I went to support him.

There are about 30 men in the Anchorage choir. They sing and worship every Sunday evening with a group of volunteers who go out there. As I looked over that choir and at each of their faces, it hit me like a ton of bricks.

This men all have a story.

They aren't just men who have fought their addictions. They have a witness, a testimony to what God has done for them through this facility. They are currently FREE from their issues, because of God's redemptive grace and mercy.

Yesterday at church we sang the worship song that says, "You make all things work together for my good." Then, this morning, that Scripture was in one of my devotionals:

Romans 8:28 says, "28 And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose."

No matter what your story is, you have one and if you've allowed God to work and move in your life, then He's turning those bad things around for your good. Even in the midst of tragedy, God can make good things come from it.

If you've had a good life, and grew up in a Christian home, and been blessed to not have a lot of struggles, that's ok. Because that's your story. God still had to redeem you and help you through life.

Everyone's story matters! And everyone matters to God!

Share your story with people. Let them hear about how God has worked in your life, so that they will see hope in Him.

God bless you today and always!
