Thanking Others For Their Sacrifices

As I said in another post, November seems to be our "Thankful" month here in the United States. I went to a program the other night, and for the first time in my life learned that George Washington is actually the person who started Thanksgiving. It's hard to read, but in this picture he says that Thanksgiving is "set aside to acknowledge the Providence of Almighty God - to obey His will - to be grateful for His benefits - and humbly implore His benefits and favor."
So, Thanksgiving was founded as a day to give thanks to God for all He's done for us. That's pretty cool.

Today is November 11th, and we observe Veteran's Day today. This is a day we set aside to thank all military for their sacrifice in serving America to protect us.

We live in a nation, founded by God, who gave Jesus as a sacrifice for our sins, that is protected by military who sacrifice their lives to keep us safe.

I believe both of those need to be acknowledged. They need and deserve to be thanked.

Father God, thank you for sending Jesus as the ultimate sacrifice for our sins. You provided the way in order for us to be saved by grace. We aren't saved by our works. Nothing we do will get us in a right relationship with you. It's a gift that you provided for us. A sacrifice that saved us all. Thank you for loving us enough to provide it. In Jesus name, amen.

Veteran's, thank you for all you've done for this great nation. We wouldn't be a free people without all you did. Both of my Grandfather's were in World War 2. My dad served in Germany and worked on tanks in the early 70's. I have many other family and friends who have served both a long time ago, recently and some that are still active duty. THANK YOU!

Right now one of my friend's sons is in the Navy... and her middle one is about to go in after he graduates from High school this year. There are so many people who are deployed to help other countries with their fighting, but to show our presence and let them not forget about our strong nation.

Proverbs 11: 25 says, "The one who blesses others is abundantly blessed; those who help others are helped." MSG

Thank someone today who has blessed you. Not just so you'll be blessed back, but because it's the right thing to do. Pray for the Veterans who are homeless. That is a horrible problem in our country. They served, they deserve to be taken care of.

Thank God for His ultimate sacrifice and a Veteran today. You'll be glad you did!

God bless you today and always!
