God's Blessings

I have had two really awesome things happen this week. Honestly, I can't wait to see what happens today.

I believe this is how God wants us to live... in expectation of what He will do daily.

Monday night my work hosted an event. I volunteered to put food on the plates. The servers came through the lines holding two plates, while four of us put the food on their plates, and they took them to the tables.

After the program started, I was resting in a chair in the hallway. Stephen Kendrick, of the Kendrick brothers movies, came out and asked where the restroom was.

This event was a Sherwood Baptist Church charity event, but I had no idea he'd be here for it. The Kendrick's moved away when they started their own movie company.

(By the way... if you haven't seen War Room, you need to! It's still at the theater.)

When the event was over, we went in to help clear the tables. I saw Mr. Kendrick and wanted to talk to him, but I was afraid and didn't want to bother him. My son and a friend of mine were pushing me and told me I'd regret it if I didn't.

So, I walked over to him and waited for him to finish his conversation with someone.

He turned his attention towards me, and I said, "I just wanted to tell you that Fireproof was my marriage on the big screen. I ended up divorced. But War Room, changed how I pray. I have a war desk. It's a roll top desk and I have my prayers written on note cards. I have a lot of prayers that are Scripture. I have three teenagers and I pray over them daily." He said, "Wow, the power of a praying mom."

My son Blake walked up and I introduced them. I told him how Blake is going to our school of ministry at my church and possibly thinking about being a Media Pastor one day. He said that was cool. I told him, "Well, one out of three." I told him that I was struggling with my middle son and how I've had issues with him. Mr. Kendrick asked what his name is. I said, "Andrew." He said, "Let's pray right now."

To say I was floored does not accurately describe how I felt.

I had Blake on my left, and my friend Stephen on my right. Mr. Kendrick put a hand on both of their shoulders, then they put a hand on me... we created a small circle. I was holding my apron and just stood there in shock.

Mr. Kendrick prayed for Andrew to love God and for God to use his life in a mighty way. It was a total blessing to me. I was in tears.

I then told him how much I love Priscilla Shirer, how I attend Catalyst Conference every year and she's spoken there a few times. He said, "She's great. The whole family is great. And actually, her grandfather got saved, who passed that on to her dad, Dr. Tony Evans, who then passed that on to her."

I told him what Andy Stanley said about dad's and if they lose their wonder how it snuffs out their children's wonder. I also said how I felt like mom's didn't have the power... and that I'd just written about it here that day.

Let me tell you what he said.... he said, "Remember Ephesians 1... and think about when Jesus was baptized. He came up out of the water, and God said, "This is my Son, in whom I'm well pleased." God blessed Jesus. So if we are IN Christ, we receive all of those same blessings. God is your Father, and He's your children's Father. They are blessed."

Talk about a jaw dropping moment! I knew that...but it really sunk in as he said it.

Here was this big time movie writer/ producer/ actor and he had just prayed for my son and reminded me how we are blessed by God.

What a HUGE blessing that was for me!

BUT... do you know what's just as good or even better?

Watching someone ELSE be blessed by God!

My son had decided to save up for a camera because he's been mentoring under a very talented artistic photographer. Blake wanted a Canon to take amazing shots with.

Last night, his mentor BLESSED him with that camera. It's a very expensive camera.

He said God told him to. So he was being obedient.

WOW GOD!!!!

Blake kept saying, "What just happened?" "Why?"

I said, "It's a blessing from God, because He loves you."

What blessings are happening around you? Are you noticing them? I am just blown away by God's grace, mercy, and awesomeness this week.

I pray that you will see Him work and move and that you will be blessed!

God bless you today and always.
