Living Life To The Full

I'm sure you've heard that song with the lyrics, "Life is a highway, I wanna ride it all night long." I think of that sometimes when I'm on road trips.

This picture was taken this past Summer on the way home from Atlanta. We were on the way back from spending three days in the hospital when my son was hurt.

I took the picture because it looks like a Lego truck. It really is some type of crates. I had never seen anything like it before. Last night I knew I wanted to write about living life to the full. And this picture came to mind. It's a "fun" looking truck. But it's also not perfect. The crates aren't in a certain order.

I want to talk to you about living life to full and how it's ok for things to seem out of order sometimes. My friend's funeral is today. No one should have to bury a friend who is their age. No matter, regardless of the age, should a parent have to bury their child either. My heart breaks for my friend's parents. His wife is now a young widow, and his kids will continue to grow up without him.

However, let me tell you what he left them.

Mike loved life. He loved people. He laughed, hung out, and mud bogged. His accident happened as he was leaving a birthday party for some friends of their's. He lived life.

He did not sit back in fear of anything. He hunted, he loved four wheelers, and loved his family.

The Bible tells us that Jesus came not to condemn the world, but that through Him the world would be saved and so we could live life to the fullest. (John 3:16-17 & John 10:10)

Jesus wants us to live. He wants us to spend time with people, telling them about His love.

You don't have to be a stick in the mud to be a Christian. You can have fun and live life to the fullest. God wants you to.

Here is the deal.. life is not perfect. You will have trouble, Jesus tells us that too. But we need to live. Live in the present. Don't worry about the future, and let go of the past. You honestly can not do anything about either.

Laugh, have fun, do things you enjoy. Spend time with people while you can. If anything, Mike's death has shown me just how short time is. You think you've got tomorrow, but you might not. Don't waste a day.

If you don't know God as your Savior, talk to Him. Ask Him to come into your life. He loves you so much. He wants to help you through life. In the good times, He rejoices with us, the bad times, He holds our hand.

I have no doubt that God is holding my friend Susan up right now. It is His strength that is getting her through this. He promises to comfort those who mourn. Thankfully, He ALWAYS keeps His promises.

Part of my Jesus Calling devotional this morning says this: "I want you to live this day abundantly, seeing all there is to see, doing all there is to do. Don't be distracted by future concerns. Leave them to Me! Each day of life is a glorious gift, but so few people know how to live within the confines of today."

Live abundantly today!

God bless you today and always.

  3. Sometimes we forget to stop and listen to God we get caught up in the moment of paying bills making sure we have food in the house we have clothes we have a house that we forget to live the way he wants us to live to be happy with our families are friends hard because we do get distracted by the future concerns whether it be a death in the family or bills that we fall short on paying but today I take time for my friend Susan and her family i take time for her and pray for her and that I know God is at her side that he will comfort her I have another friend that her brother passed away and then not too long ago her mother passed away it's been a very trying two weeks my list of prayers seems to be getting bigger and bigger I do what I can so that the Lord can help me keep everybody in my little world safe, comforted, clothed and have a home to sleep in.
