The Kingdom of God is upside DOWN!

There are two songs on the KLOVE radio station playing recently that have really gotten me thinking. Sometimes, they have a little promo for the song by the artist or someone in the band. They give a description of the song or the story behind it.

The first is Hillsong United's Touch the Sky. I LOVE their music! They have some amazing worship songs.  Joel Houston, one of their leaders talks about the song and says that the kingdom of God is upside down. This song says that "I found my life when I laid it down" and "I touched the sky when my knees hit the ground." Listen here to the story: Touch The Sky

See, Jesus told us that the last would become first (Matthew 19:30) and that when if we wanted to gain the world, we'd lose our soul.(Matthew 16:26)  When you pray, you are touching "the sky", God. When you fully surrender to God, you are doing what He wants you to because you are trusting Him with your life. God wants us to be fully surrendered to Him, not be of the world.

Chris Tomlin has a song called Love Ran Red. When he talks about it he says that normally red is associated with bad. Like you are "in the red" when your money is negative. But God changed that when Jesus bled and died for our sins, His LOVE ran red.

When Jesus came to this earth, the Jewish people thought He was going to come and over throw the Roman government. They had been oppressed and living under rough conditions. (Luckily, it wasn't as bad as it had been for them in the past, but still.) Some of the Jewish people were sold out to the Romans and they would tax their own people extra money, or just treat them bad because they could.

Jesus came for a greater purpose. To save the world! Not just the Jewish people. I find it so odd, that the Jews don't even think the Messiah has come yet. He was one of them. It was 2,000 years ago...however, they are still looking for Him.

God's kingdom is an upside down pyramid. In the world, people think they are supposed to be on top and the best. But God's kingdom is Him first. It's not like the world at all.

Is God first in your life? Why or why not?
