What are you afraid of?

Fear raises it's ugly head in all forms and fashions.

Yesterday, I came home from work early because I had a headache. (Please pray for me about these, they started last week and aren't going away yet.) On the way home, we had a weather warning for a severe thunderstorm. I got home and went right to bed. One of our min pin dogs is so afraid of the thunder. I tried to keep her out so I could rest and possibly nap, but she wasn't having any of that. She only wants to be in my bed with me if I'm here.

I started thinking about the fact that she can't see the thunder, only hear it. She is inside and protected, and yet, she's still scared to death. I mean shaking in her skin scared.

Aren't we the same way sometimes?

For example, today I go LIVE with Java With Jill. It is the URL now. I am afraid I will lose my over seas readers. That's just silly of me.

That's my same issue with publishing a book. The first fear is having money to pay an editor. The second is no one buying the book.

These things are nothing to be afraid of. Especially if I am doing what God called me to do. He will handle it all.

We humans tend to struggle when we feel out of control. But the truth is, we aren't in control anyway.

Sure, we make choices. And sometimes those choices don't go along with God's plan, so we get off track there. He loves us though and is always there to bring us back.

Jon Acuff has some great ideas on fear. God says a lot about it too.
Amy Latta is from our groups. She's awesome!

Jon says 10 things fear fears:
1. Community    2. Action   3.Alarm Clocks  4.Truth
5. Hustle            6. Focus   7.Sunrises
8. Spiders          9. HOPE  10. You

You see, the groups that Jon has created are a community. When we encourage each other and help each other, we are punching fear in the face.

One of my favorite Scriptures on fear is Isaiah 41:10, "Fear not, for I am with you, be not dismayed for I am your God, I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand."

2 Timothy 1:7 says, "For God did not give us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and a sound mind."

1 John 4: 18 says, "There is no fear in love. Perfect love casts out fear."

Psalm 34:4 says, "I sought the LORD and He heard me, and delivered me from all my fears."

What are you afraid of? Tell someone! That's the first step to overcoming it.
