Which Direction Are You Running?

Did you know that we are all in a race?

It's true.

This life we call is like a race. We are plugging through, dodging things, and jumping over hurdles.

If we are all running a race... where are we running to?

I think we can either run towards God or away from Him.

Yes, there is a difference.

Running towards God is allowing Him into your every day life. It's taking time to pray, read the Bible and/or devotionals, listening to worship music, and listening for Him to speak to your heart. Church attendance is cool, we are supposed to do that according to Hebrews 10:25... however, daily time with God is what you need to run towards Him.

Running away from God looks different for different people. Some end up partying with drugs or alcohol.  Some do what I have been guilty of in my past, looking to others for my value and validation. That should only come from God. Another human being CAN NOT and SHOULD NOT be my gauge for my value. They are just as flawed as I am.

Others just avoid anything "Godly", as in the Bible, Christians, Christian music, etc. They are good people, just don't want anything to do with God. Did you even realize that? You CAN be a good person and not be a Christian. There are many many good people in this world who do nice things for others, but it has nothing to do with God.

Take a minute to view your life right now.

Which direction are you running?

I can tell you this. When you are running towards God, it doesn't mean it's all smooth sailing.

However, it does mean that you have a Captain of your ship who will not let you sink!

Running from God gives the enemy a bigger target on your back. It allows him to try harder to keep you away from God. If you have already given your life and heart to God, then he can't have it... so his goal is to keep you away from God as much as possible. He will fill your life with stuff that will keep you busy. SOMETIMES, that can even be "Christian" stuff!

If he can keep you from praying, reading your Bible or devotionals, and attending church, then he's got you right where he wants you.

1 Corinthians 9:24 says, "Do you not know in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize."

The prize is a relationship with God.

Hebrews 12: 1 & 2a says this, "Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of the faith."

Focusing on Jesus and running towards Him will get us through.
All you need is a little faith and hope.

Hebrews 11:1 says, "Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see."

Faith and hope help you stay focused on why you are running in the first place.

If you need prayer, just ask me. I will be glad to pray for you!
