How Big Is Your Faith?

Our Youth Pastor taught yesterday on Overcoming Doubt. It was a great message. God spoke to me through it, my Draw the Circle book, AND my Jesus Calling devotional. I suppose He is trying to tell me something. Ya think?

Faith is a big deal. Jesus was/ is drawn to faith. There are several times in the Bible, when He healed someone simply because they believed He could. One was the Roman Centurion's servant. (Matthew 8: 5-13) The Centurion wasn't even a Jewish man. He wasn't raised knowing who God was, and hearing the history of how God rescued the chosen people. He asked Jesus to heal the servant from a distance, he wasn't even expecting Jesus to touch the servant. That's faith right there!

Faith is hard sometimes though. When we've prayed about something for a long time and haven't gotten an answer, we get discouraged. And, one thing we tend to do, is doubt, simply because it's never happened to us.

We've got to get past this people. Because without faith, it is impossible to please God. (Hebrews 11:6)

Not to mention, the lack of faith, any unbelief we have, blocks God's blessings.

When Jesus went back to His hometown, the people were familiar with Him. They were all, "That's Joseph's son." Therefore, they didn't believe that He could do anything. He left His hometown with a few simple healings. Nothing major happened because they didn't believe He could do it.

How many times have you prayed but did not really expect an answer?

That's a lack of faith, my friends.

In our life, we are used to ready, set, go. The sequence of faith is, go, set, ready. Sometimes we have to just do what we know God has told us to... and leave the rest up to Him.

I hope that you will consider this and ponder it in your heart.

God WANTS to bless you. He even says, "Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you."

But we don't do it.

What is holding you back?

If you are ready for blessings... exercise your faith. Do what God says. Go where He says go, and be ready for the blessings of heaven to pour out on your life.

This is not a "name it and claim" thing at all. It's about believing God's promises. And trusting Him to do what He says He will.

How big is your faith? It should be HUGE like the God who loves you.
