How Do You See God?

Our Youth Pastor taught at church again yesterday. I really enjoy his messages. This one was so timely! "What do you see?" was his title.

This A.W. Tozer quote was something Josh used in his message.
How true it is!

If you think that God is a big bully up in Heaven just waiting for you to mess up so He can strike you down with some crazy thing, you are wrong.

If you think that God is only going to save a few select people based on how many doors they knock on, you are wrong.

If you think that God only loves you when you are good... BOY are you wrong!

I realize that we are all raised differently. Some denominations teach that God is up in heaven, ready to pour out His wrath on the earth. That we are just horrible people and we have to jump through hoops, hop on one leg, and bend over backwards to make Him love us.

That is so far from the truth my friends!

God is slow to anger, and abounding in love.

He has a love and joy for us like no other.

If you are struggling to know God, read the New Testament and see Him through the lens of Jesus.

Jesus went around healing people, binding up their wounds, bringing the dead back to life, and calming storms.

Not once did Jesus start a storm, or tell someone He wouldn't heal them because God was teaching them a lesson through it.

Did you catch that?

Let me say it again...

Not once did Jesus start a storm, or tell someone He wouldn't heal them because God was teaching them a lesson through it.

How you see God determines your beliefs and how you live.

A few weeks ago, I told you that Josh said, "If it's not good, it's not God."

Write that down.

There are just a few days left in this year.

Why don't you gear up and get ready for 2015 by renewing your beliefs in the God who loves you so much? I think you'll be glad you did!

  1. Loved Josh´s message yesterday and what a great point that Jesus didn't cause/make storms.
I thought about his message alot yesterday, especially how if we think God is more concerned with traditions of man or rules than he is concerned about us then we will see the world and other people the same way. We won't take the time to know them let alone love them unless they get all the check marks
