Looking at Scripture in a different way

My Pastor is still teaching on our Identity. Yesterday's message really hit home for me in a few ways. I want to share a Scripture and define the words like he did. I hope this makes sense to you like it did to me.

2 Peter 1: 2 & 3, says, "His divine power has given us everything we need for a godly life through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness. Through these he has given us his very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature, having escaped the corruption in the world caused by evil desires."

Power: dynamite, force of energy

Godliness: pay homage, have reverence for (It's not about following rules)

Knowledge: personal experience, "felt and seen personally"

Great: majestic

Promise: a voluntarily, spontaneous type, doing with expecting nothing in return; not a type done because one is asked to do something

Divine nature: participating in God's presence

Escape: flee, move on, break away from

Corrupt: decay, lower level living

Evil desire: focused passion

SO, God's force of energy, gives us everything we need to have reverence for the life He has given us through personal experience of His glory and goodness. Through these He is very majestic with doing things for us, not expecting anything in return, so that we can participate in His presence, fleeing from the lower level living that our human focused passion brings.

Let that sink in and I will write more tomorrow.
