Living In Who We Are

Some of this will be a continual of my Pastor's message.

We should want to live in who we are. Sometimes we desire the wrong things and take lame substitutes for what God wants for us.(Sex, drugs, food, shopping, alcohol... are a few that come to my mind.)

Here are just a few of God's promises, take a minute and look them up.

2 Corinthians 5: 17 New creation
Colossians 3: 1-4 Set your heart on things above
Colossians 1: 13-14 God rescued us from darkness
Isaiah 1: 18 Your sins are whiter than snow
Psalm 103: 8-12 God’s true self, READ THIS ONE!
Galatians 3: 26 & 27 We are children of God

Romans 8: 31-39 We are more than conquerors!

The power we get does not come from putting ourselves down and being negative. It is not productive. I have struggled with negative thoughts about myself for years. It is very hard to hear the truth from God and transplant that into your heart and mind. Sometimes, my heart knows the truth, that I am God's masterpiece made for good works, but my mind says, "You are still too overweight." "You are not very smart.", etc. I have to fight off that junk. It's just not true. Dwelling on the negative & telling ourselves things keeps us from the life God has planned for us.

If we focused on the fact that we are loved unconditionally by God, we could cross over into a new mode of living. When we say yes to Jesus, we DO escape... we go into a real reality. It is nothing that we have to do on our own.

Jesus said in John 10:10 that the thief is here to kill, steal and destroy..but He came to give us life, life to the fullest!

Another thing we need to be careful of is comparing ourselves to others. We are all on a journey in this life. Some folks might look like they've got it all together, but they probably really don't. Others, might be in a better place, but they've been through hell and back to get there. We just never know someone's story until we ask. Do not compare your life to their's.

God's love is extravagant and constant! Nothing can stop it. Dwell on that!
