Sabbath? What's that?

Have you ever heard the word Sabbath? It is somewhat of a Biblical word. Some people think it doesn't apply to us in this modern age, but actually it does.

In Exodus 20: 8-11 it says, “Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days you shall labor, and do all your work, but the seventh day is a Sabbath to the Lord your God. On it you shall not do any work, you, or your son, or your daughter, your male servant, or your female servant, or your livestock, or the sojourner who is within your gates. For in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested on the seventh day. Therefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and made it holy."

Last month, my Pastor actually spoke on this topic. He said, "Life is not a sprint, it's a marathon. Learn to release things to the Lord. Sabbath/ resting is time to recharge in His presence."

When we are so tired, we don't deal with the root of problems. We tend to just put a bandaid on it and move on.

Jesus, in the book of Mark said, 2: 27, "Then he said to them, “The Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath."

In this fast paced world we live where we can text, tweet, email, and Facebook people instantly, we need to slow down UNPLUG and take some time to reflect on God, what He's done for us, and what He has planned for us.

Are you ready for the punch line?

It DOES NOT have to be on Sunday!

Yes, that's what I just said, it DOES NOT have to be on a Sunday.

Just take a day and rest, pray, reflect, listen.

God will meet you there.
