Another lesson from weeds

Yesterday, one of our dogs got off her lease and ran off. We haven't had to chase a dog in a while. (So, I guess I shouldn't complain.)

As I walked on the side of the ditch that separates my older part of the neighborhood from the newer part, all I saw was weeds. All different types just growing together, doing their thing.

This past Sunday, my Pastor spoke about the mustard seed story that Jesus told in the Bible.

Matthew 13:31 He told them another parable: “The kingdom of heaven is like a mustard seed, which a man took and planted in his field.32 Though it is the smallest of all seeds, yet when it grows, it is the largest of garden plants and becomes a tree, so that the birds come and perch in its branches.”

The Kingdom of heaven and/or of God is God's way of doing things and His opinion on things.

A mustard seed is a tiny small seed that grows into a tree/bush. It grows big enough for birds to perch in.

During Jesus' times, they did not plant two different types of things in a garden or crop. It was unheard of! And, they didn't really like the mustard plant because it attracted unwanted birds.

But, God said His kingdom is like a mustard seed. He wants people who are unwanted. He wants a mixture of people;  color, economic differences, shapes and sizes. God wants us all, He loves us so very much and He doesn't care if different weeds grow next to each other.

If you care, then you shouldn't! The Kingdom of God is made up of all types!
