SPEAK LIFE

I've been thinking about this a lot lately. What we say or don't say CAN hurt others. The Bible talks about this a good bit. I found just a few Scriptures to share with you on the topic.


Proverbs 15:
⁴ The soothing tongue is a tree of life,
but a perverse tongue crushes the spirit.

Proverbs 18:²¹ Words kill, words give life;
they’re either poison or fruit—you choose. (MSG)

^{James 1:26} Those who consider themselves religious and yet do not keep a tight rein on their tongues deceive themselves, and their religion is worthless.

James 3:⁹ With the tongue we praise our Lord and Father, and with it we curse human beings, who have been made in God’s likeness. ¹⁰ Out of the same mouth come praise and cursing. My brothers and sisters, this should not be.

We have the opportunity to speak life or death to people. We can bless them or curse them with our words. It's true. The spoken word is VERY powerful.

Just ask the person who's parent called them "dummy" growing up, so that caused them feel dumb their whole life. Or, the girl who's Daddy always told her how pretty and smart she was.... because that girl always felt pretty and smart.

Watch what you say to people... you might be just the person to brighten their day!
