Children are a legacy

Today I was reading about a woman in the Bible today named Athaliah. She was awful! Her influences weren't helpful at all...on her husband's side, King Jehoshaphat, on her side King Ahab. She watched Queen Jezebel, King Ahab's famous wife, be ruthless and horrible.

So, how does Athaliah top Jezebel? Instead of grieving her son's tragic death, she seized the moment. She killed all of her son's children, her GRANDCHILDREN in order to make sure she would be queen.

That's just the worst thing I've ever heard! How could you kill your own grandchildren?

She was not loved by her kingdom and in 2 Chronicles 23:21 it says, "All the people of the land rejoiced. And the city was quiet because Athaliah had been slain with the sword." I guess they were glad she was gone.

What kind of legacy are you leaving for the children in your life? Maybe you aren't a parent. Or your children are grown up. There are some children in your life, aren't there?

Are you providing them with a good example? Can they come to you for advice and know that they can trust you have their best interests at heart? Do you talk to kids about how much God loves them?

Jesus loved children. In Mark 10: 15-17 He said, "15 Truly I tell you, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it.” 16 And he took the children in his arms, placed his hands on them and blessed them.

Hug a child today and bless them! I know we love the 3 God gave us!
