1 John 3:16, "We know what real love is because Jesus gave up His life for us. So we also ought to give up our lives for our brothers and sisters."
We humans tend to make the mistake in thinking that another human's love will fulfill us and make us whole. This is far from the truth. I have made this mistake myself at one point.
When you expect that, you are placing a HUGE expectation on that person, and I promise you WILL be let down.
No human being can fill your heart like God can.
No human being loves you like God does.
No human being has sacrificed and done the things for you that God has.
(Yes, that even includes your mom.)
You see, God's plan for us all was that He sent Jesus so that we would be forgiven of our sins. We are all sinners. We are born that way because of the fall of man all those many years ago.
God had a plan in place, and it's still the plan today.
The other key to this is loving each other. Christians and non Christians alike.
1 John 3:17 says, "If someone has enough money to live well and sees a brother or sister in need but shows no compassion, how can God's love be in that person?"
God is love. We've established that. God is compassionate. If we aren't compassionate, how can we say we love Him?
Your actions also speak WAY LOUDER than your words:
1 John 3: 18-19, "Dear children, let's not merely say that we love each other; let us show the truth by our actions. Our actions will show that we belong to the truth, so we will be confident when we stand before God."
I have experienced this in my own life. I have been told that I was loved in words, but the actions did not match up at all. We must treat people like we want to be treated.
We must take care of the poor, afflicted, widows, and orphans. God tells us to do that.
We must LOVE!
Do you know God as your Lord and Savior? I pray you do. If you don't, why not take a second and tell Him how much you need His love. It's right there, waiting for you. He is not going to withhold His love from you.
It's my prayer that we will all live for God and that we will experience His real love, then it will pour out of our lives on to others.
God bless you today and always.
