If we would admit it, we all want to have fulfilling relationships that bring us joy, right?
Well, the best way to do that is to have God first in your life.
Yes, that's what I said, have God first in your life.
Now, as a side note, I would like to say that in my marriage, I had God first. My ex husband left anyway, right? So it somewhat makes me sound silly. Please let me explain.
If TWO people in a marriage are BOTH living for God, then they wouldn't end up divorced. Maybe. Just an off chance. I do know couples who attend church but things aren't going well for them. I can't see their hearts, of course. I'm not sure if they both have God first in their lives or not.
Divorce is just as common in church as it is outside of church. Which is a sad truth.
I believe it is a heart issue for people.
Only God can heal us. If we've had pain in our life, been hurt, neglected, abused, unloved or whatever, only God can heal that. No human being can do what God can.
We tend to think that the "perfect" relationship will fix us. I know I have. Boy was I wrong!
What has "fixed" me, for the lack of a better term, is God.
God is first in my life and He always will be. Even when He brings me the man He has planned for me. God will never lose that top stop in my heart.
Being in tune with God is what makes all of our other relationships fall into place. Are they perfect relationships? NO! We are human beings after all. No one is perfect.

My Jesus Calling devotional, which was yesterday's but I read the wrong date says this:
"Live first and foremost in My Presence. Gradually you will become more aware of Me than of people and places around you. This awareness will not detract from your relationships with others. Instead, it will increase your ability to give love and encouragement to them. My peace will permeate your words and demeanor."
I don't know about you...but I would enjoy giving love and encouragement to others while having God's peace permeate my words and demeanor! I mean, seriously.
Maybe you aren't sure how to have God first... what I do is live for Him fully. I pray everyday, read my Bible, read devotionals, talk about Him, think about Him, fully trust Him with everything and the biggy, I thank God daily for what He's done and what I have in my life.
Letting His love for me be the center of my heart. That's what it is to me.
If you are struggling with this, can I pray for you? Please let me know. I would love to.
God bless you today and always.
