The Truth About Fathers

"So now you Gentiles are no longer strangers and foreigners. You are citizens along with all of God's holy people. You are members of God's family." Ephesians 2:19

Today is Father's Day in the USA. This is a day someone set aside for us to honor our Fathers. I don't even really know the history behind the day.
But I do know this. Not everyone has / had a great Father. Also, any man can become a "Father", but it takes someone special to be a "DAD".
You see, being a parent is more than just DNA. Being a parent is loving someone and treating them as your own.
There are some pretty awesome men out there who love their children correctly, spend time with them, and helped raise them. On the flip side of that, there are many men who haven't done what they should or could have.
Let me give you some hope. We ALL have a Heavenly Father who is amazing!
He loves us more than any earthly father ever could. He is always here for us! He will listen to you, respond to you, provide for you, and protect you.
When you give your life to Jesus, you become a child of the Most High King. You are adopted. Isn't that wonderful?
God does not expect us to "get our life together" first. You are fully accepted and fully loved, just as you are. Flaws and all.
These types of "holidays", if you will, can cause pain. I know for some of my family and friends, this is their first Father's day without their dad. That hurts. It's not easy. Other people had an abusive dad, a dad who left, or no dad ever around at all. That's when turning to God for comfort and peace comes in. God is always there. He loves us so much and He just wants to take care of us.
I just want you to know that you are loved. You do have a Heavenly Father who thinks you are simply the best! If He had a fridge, your picture would be on it! He knows the number of hairs on your head, what your heart's desires are, and want you need.
Take some time to get to know Him. I bet He is much different from what you thought. He wants to shower you with grace, love, and mercy. He is not the big bully in the sky waiting to punish you. He doesn't work that way.
NOTHING you do will make Him love you any less. NOTHING.
I want to tell any dad/ father who happens to read this. The BEST thing you can do for your children is point them to God. Love them the best you can, but point them to the Father who can love them even better than you. You'll be glad you did.
God bless you today and always.
