When Life Looks Dark

Luke 23: 47-49 NLT, "When the Roman officer overseeing the execution saw what had happened, he worshiped God and said, "Surely this man was innocent." And when all the crowd that came to see the crucifixion saw what had happened, they went home in deep sorrow. But Jesus' friends, including the women who had followed him from Galilee, stood at a distance watching."

Imagine if you can, that you are doing your job one day and a man tells you to follow Him, so you go. Leaving your job and your family behind. Something inside of you says this is the right thing to do.

For three years, you learn under this man. You watch and learn. You see miracles. Your faith is challenged in every way, because the things this man teaches are not like what you grew up hearing your entire life.

Then, He dies.

Now what? You didn't see that coming. Sure, He had mentioned it before, but you thought He was going to over throw the Roman government and become your King.

Now He's dead. Like totally and completely dead.

Can you imagine how the disciples must have felt in those two days? Watching the teacher they loved and followed killed had to be heart breaking.

You know what they did though, they stayed together. They went somewhat into hiding, out of fear that they too would be killed. But they were together.

When life looks dark, who do you turn to?

We all need people we can trust. These men and women trusted each other. They traveled together, ate together, prayed together and learned from Jesus together.

It's called a "body of believers" and it's still alive and well today. We need each other to get through the dark times.

You see, we know the end of the story. They didn't. They had no idea what was going to happen on Sunday. They were hopeless and lost.

But we aren't! (Can I get an amen and thanks be to God for that?)

God knows what's going on in your dark times. He's there waiting for you to turn to Him for help. He never leaves us.

Will you trust Him? He loves you so much. That's the whole reason Jesus died and came back, for us. He did it out of love. Do you attend a local church? If not, please go try some. Go tomorrow especially on Easter, pretty please.

God bless you today and always.
